Ashtanga Half-Primary Series
The basis for vinyasa yoga classes, the ashtanga primary series begins with sun salutations to stretch and warm the body, and then moves through a sequence of standing and seated poses (asanas), before closing with backbends, inversions, and savasana. Students will be led through the series, learning the wisdom, strength, beauty, and meaning behind each movement. Ashtanga is a challenging practice, but numerous modifications are offered and encouraged -- along with laughter and play. Come join in the magic of the original moving meditation.
Is a healing dance practice. It's unique because it uses spontaneous dance for the purpose of healing. There's no right or wrong way to CHAKRADANCE. It’s a journey of self-discovery. Each chakra is explored through specific music, guided imagery and your own free, improvised dance, done with your eyes softly closed. This begins to activate inner experiences. It’s almost like entering into a waking dream. You may see images in your mind’s eye while you are dancing or gain insights. You may also experience feelings, emotions or physical sensations. Classes, comprised of a small group of people, are held in candle lit spaces. Although music and dance form the primary focus, sessions also include sensing, working with elements and colours, and short meditations.
Gentle Vinyasa is the perfect morning practice. This class links movement with breath to provide you with a moving meditation, providing a perfect space for beginners, or those looking for basic movement to help start their day.
A relaxing and invigorating class that will focus on increasing strength, flexibility and balance in both body and mind. We will use a wide variety of yoga postures to cultivate conscious breath, body awareness and deep relaxation. A moderate flow with a few challenges thrown in can usually be expected! All levels of experience are welcome.
Lila Vinyasa Yoga
The sanskrit word lila means divine play. The translation of vinyasa is "to place in a special way". This class emphasizes movement connected to the breath, the union of breath and movement that make up the steps that lead us from one pose to another. In this vinyasa class you will explore movement between shapes while inspired by the concept of Lila, playfulness, curiosity, and the enjoyment of the present moment. Variations on sun salutations will be explored.
Low & Slow
A class of deep stretching and long holds. Poses held allowing the muscles to relax and the stretch to move deep into the connective and joints and restorative poses calming the nervous system. Offering maximum benefit to the mind and breath in these moments of stillness. All levels. Also great for beginners or anyone curious to try yoga.
This class offers deep relaxation, meditation and renewal of the body’s energy. It consists of passive poses that focus on the breath to release unnecessary tension in the body and mind. This gentle class involves the use of props to enter a deeper relaxation and rejuvenation. Appropriate for all levels.
Simply put, round robin is about 'taking turns.' Every Sunday one of our teachers or guest teachers will take a turn to facilitate the class. That means you may experience a vinyasa flow, a yin practice, restorative poses, or some other surprise. This is a practice in being present, open, and curious to the experience.
Somatic exercises use an awakening of body awareness to enhance posture and movement function. The gentle exercises enable you to release excess muscle tension and enhance coordinated muscle action. The exercises are beneficial for those new to somatic self-care as well as those wishing to deepen their yoga practice. Classes are non-sequential and will explore different body areas and movement activity each week.
Vinyasa Level 2
Vinyasa Level 2 classes provide a comfortable and fun setting for a challenging and invigorating yoga practice. With its roots in the ashtanga primary series, the Vinyasa class invites students to unite their bodies, minds, and hearts through asana (poses), pranayama (breath), pratyahara (removal of the senses), and other aspects of the eight limb practice. Come work your deepest muscles to stretch, twist, and strengthen yourself without limit. The class is designed to challenge all levels of practitioners, with pose modifications provided. The goal of every class is for students to leave feeling strong, peaceful, and refreshed.
